Directed by Anderson Leão

Synopsis
State of Apnea is a choreographic work that uses the metaphor of collective breath suspension during the pandemic to reflect on the physical, emotional, and social impacts of isolation. Five unknown bodies share a boundary space where survival is only possible through listening, exchange, and immersion in each other's universe.
The work explores the fissures in a society marked by structural oppressions—such as violence, prejudice, and exclusion—and how these marks emerge in individual experiences during confinement.
More than offering answers, the work raises questions about ways of coexisting in times of crisis and invites us to recognize what suffocates us as a collective. It is a call for empathy, for rebuilding bonds, and for transformation based on shared experiences.
