Bloco dos Cão _01_1.jpg
Dog Block 2.png

Bloco dos Cão is a dance video loosely inspired by the homonymous and traditional carnival group from the Redinha neighborhood in the city of Natal.

The artwork alludes to and pays homage to a popular carnival group that has culturally endured for over 60 years in the city of Natal and is now considered an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the people of Natal. It is a celebration of equality and equity where everyone can be who they want to be, free from judgment and social segregation.

The artistic and physical diversity of the Movidos Dança Group, which includes dancers with and without disabilities in its cast, reaffirms in this tribute the importance of an increasingly diverse and plural art form, its ability to raise awareness without losing sight of joy and lightheartedness, and above all, the recognition of a vibrant and pulsating culture that is the hallmark of the Redinha carnival.

Bubble.png

Bubble is a video dance whose narrative explores a place of isolation or distancing created naturally or necessarily for human beings to understand their own limits. We constantly encounter various forms of bubbles, whether due to "preferences" or impositions; breaking through these layers and freeing ourselves from this bubble is the great challenge we face daily. But is it possible to overcome these barriers that condition and limit us? Can we see possible paths to offer resistance and break the bubble? And it is with this narrative, full of sensations and translated into dance movements, that the Movidos Group presents its newest work.

Body Chair 2.png

The use of a chair implies consideration of a series of human actions related to social rites such as meals and gatherings, or cultural interactions like reading. But for the Movidos Dance Group, which includes people with and without disabilities in its cast, the chair's place transcends its representation as an object of use, becoming a resource for bodily expression.

echo.png

Immersed in an unknown experience, following the sound of water from the forest, they encounter not only a place of natural beauty but also the opportunity to connect and intensely recognize each other as beings who echo expressions in their souls through movement. Movement protects and reverberates energy capable of recharging their bodies and offering them a sense of continuing life, just like the waters that echo and follow their flow without ever repeating themselves, carrying with them the experience of feeling the immensity of the world. This video dance was created at the 2022 "Encontro Pra Dançar" (Dance Meeting), through a performance by the performers/collaborators of the Movidos Dança group, which took place in the Buraco do Padre Nature Park, a private property located within a fully protected Conservation Unit: the Campos Gerais National Park, in Ponta Grossa/PR.

Directed by: Anderson Leão / Cinematography and editing: Anderson Leão / Cast/Collaborators: Ariadna Medeiros, Daniel Silva, Jamaica Macedo, Michael Skimo and Rodolpho Santtos / Produced by: Tatiane Fernandes / Support: Sérgio Gurgel Filho / Special thanks to: Jorge Schneider, Marcelo Santos, Simone Bönisch Olsen, Maria Adriana Neves (Chica) and Andréa Safonoff.

drain 2.png

This video dance piece portrays and celebrates the encounter of two bodies who together seek the river's waters to energize and purify themselves from all the impurities they encounter on their journeys. Allowing themselves to flow into these clear and calm waters allows this encounter to be a moment of peace and prayer for bodies so burdened with distinct experiences. This river, with its tranquil currents and abundant life, becomes the perfect setting for an exchange of energies that has the power to revitalize and, like its waters, is committed to allowing these lives to continue and flow through other scenarios and places, even facing adversity, winds, and barriers, without being dammed up, and thus continuing until the next encounter and outflow becomes necessary for these and other souls.
